New Shopping Bags from Old Banners!
Through a partnership with the City of Maple Ridge, the CEED Centre Society, and the Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living (RMACL), the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association launched a program to give retired street banners a second life and help shoppers use less plastic.

The City donates the old banners that would otherwise end up in the landfill. RMACL then created a new sewing program at Greenwood Creations, where clients learn the meaningful skill of sewing, alongside the CEED Centre Society’s Sewing CEEDlings initiative.

The result? Beautiful, reusable shopping bags, each one unique, durable, and washable, designed to last for years. Plus, 100% of proceeds go directly back into the community, supporting sewing and sustainability projects in Downtown Maple Ridge.
