Through a partnership with the City of Maple Ridge, Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living, and the CEED Centre, the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association created a program that gives retired street banners a meaningful second life. Instead of heading to the landfill, donated banners are transformed into durable, reusable shopping bags, encouraging less plastic use and more sustainable shopping. All purchases of our banner bags have 100% of proceeds reinvested back into the community.

CEED Centre – Sewing Seedlings Program

The CEED Centre’s Sewing Seedlings program provides hands-on sewing training that builds practical skills, confidence, and pathways to employment. Participants work with industrial sewing machines while learning transferable skills such as problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork. This program plays a key role in turning banners into high-quality, long-lasting bags while supporting meaningful skill development.

Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living (RMACL)

Through this project, RMACL launched a new sewing program at Greenwood Creations, teaching clients the valuable and empowering skill of sewing. Participants are actively involved in creating the banner bags from start to finish, gaining experience, confidence, and pride in producing functional items that support the wider community.

The result is a collection of unique, washable, and long-lasting shopping bags that make great gifts, staff appreciation items, or everyday essentials all while supporting local programs and downtown beautification in Maple Ridge.

We have a variety of designs to choose from.  

$10.00 per bag or 3 for $25.00. 

The MR150 banner bags are available for $10 each.
