The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association (DMRBIA) is seeking an exceptional Executive Director to lead our mission of revitalizing one of Vancouver's most exciting neighbourhoods.
Job Summary:
The Executive Director is the key leadership position responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the DMRBIA. Reporting to the BIA Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead the implementation of the BIA's strategic plan, manage day-to-day operations, foster strong relationships with members and other community stakeholders, and ensure the BIA's financial sustainability. The Executive Director is responsible for championing the BIA's goals of promoting business, tourism, safety, and street beautification within the BIA district.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the BIA's strategic plan and annual work plans.
- Monitor progress toward strategic goals and adjust plans as needed.
- Identify emerging opportunities and challenges for the BIA and develop proactive strategies to address them.
Operational Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the BIA, including program implementation, communications, and administration.
- Manage BIA staff and contractors, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the BIA's annual budget in accordance with the Board's direction and city requirements.
- Monitor financial performance, prepare financial reports, and ensure sound financial management practices.
- Oversee the BIA's accounting and bookkeeping functions.
Membership & Stakeholder Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for BIA members, addressing their inquiries and concerns.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain BIA members.
- Foster strong relationships with property owners, business tenants, and other stakeholders within the BIA district.
- Represent the BIA at community events, meetings, and other forums.
City Liaison:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the BIA and the City of Maple Ridge.
- Work collaboratively with City staff to address issues of concern to the BIA and its members.
- Stay informed about City policies, programs, and initiatives that may impact the BIA.
Business Promotion, Tourism, Safety & Beautification Initiatives:
- Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote business, tourism, safety, and street beautification within the BIA district, in alignment with the BIA's strategic plan.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of BIA programs and initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
- Explore opportunities for collaborative initiatives with other BIAs and community organizations.
Advocacy:
- Advocate on behalf of the BIA and its members on issues of importance to the business community.
- Build relationships with elected officials and other decision-makers to advance the BIA's agenda.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning or related field preferred, but not mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in leadership role, preferably in a BIA, non-profit organization, or business association.
- Strong understanding of business development, marketing, and community engagement principles.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and manage budgets.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Maple Ridge's government structure, policies, and procedures is an asset.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors is an asset.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
