New Shopping Bags from old Banners! Through a partnership with “The City of Maple Ridge” and Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living (RMACL), Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association created a program to prevent the old banners from ending up in the landfill and for shoppers to use less plastic! The City donates the banners (which would otherwise end up in the landfill). Following RMACL created a brand new sewing program at Greenwood Creations, where clients are now taught the very meaningful skill of sewing. The result: beautiful reusable shopping bags, which are unique and practical, can be washed over and over and will last for a long time! 100% of proceeds coming directly back to the community (paying for the sewing and sustainable projects in downtown MR)!
