Pride in the Park is the only public event celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ pride in Maple Ridge. It’s a free, family-friendly event that brings together community members for an afternoon of games, music, a BBQ, face painting, and other fun activities.
It began in 2016 as a way to bring Pride festivities closer to youth who participate in our other 2SLGBTQIA+ youth services in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Our Generation-Out group is a free, confidential and voluntary support group for youth aged 14 to 18 years who are exploring gender and sexuality. Our youth TransSupport group is a free, confidential and voluntary support group for transgender youth aged 15 years and under. They both provide a safe, positive and supportive space for youth to regularly meet and spend time together.
Every year, PLEA actively fundraises to host Pride in the Park to benefit our youth and the community. We aim to raise $2000 to cover costs associated with rentals, decorations, food, prizes and swag.
